A town puts new houses on clear, flat ground. It spreads outward along its own roads. Every piece of track, road and station you lay sits on ground a house can never use. Ring a city with a railway and you used to pen it in - the tidier your plan, the slower it grew.
That is the wrong way round, so transport now lifts a town's growth. Each station in the town adds to a transport score. The bigger that score, the faster the place grows.
The first big lift is the cheapest. Roughly 200 points of transport doubles a town's growth, and every doubling after that costs about thirty per cent more than the one before. There is no ceiling - it just gets harder, so a city keeps rewarding you without running away.
This multiplies with everything else that grows a town, so it stacks with your headquarters and with sharing the town. One thing it does not do is reward idle concrete: the score rides your service, so a station nobody uses grows nothing.
In toyland every plane and helicopter can now be refitted to Soft Drinks. It was the one finished product you could not put on an ordinary aircraft, which made no sense beside lollies.
The Fizzy Cargojet and the Fizzy Airlift are still here. They carry more than an ordinary plane. A specialist talent unlocks them. The change is that you no longer need one to fly a crate of drinks.
Set the refinement dial on a factory and its output drops at once. One ships everything; five ships about 18 per cent of that. The cut is not gradual and it does not wait for anything.
What you buy with it is quality, and quality never falls once earned. So the play is to crank refinement up, let the quality climb over the months, then turn the dial back down. Output returns to full and the goods keep the quality you built - full volume at a premium price.
